The clock is ticking for shoe shoppers and bargain hunters who wish to take advantage of Payless ShoeSource’s closing sales!
The Division of Consumer Affairs announced today that there is only a week left for customers to use Payless gift cards and store credit before the once-famous retailer closes its doors for good.
The nationwide shoe retailer announced back in February its plans to file for bankruptcy and shut down all US, Puerto Rico, and Canada locations.
“When stores declare bankruptcy, consumers must act quickly or risk losing the value in unused gift cards and store credit,” said Paul R. Rodriguez, Acting Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs. “We encourage New Jersey consumers to use any gift cards or store credit they may have at Payless ShoeSource before time runs out.”
Consumers have until March 11 to use up gift cards and store credit. Payless will continue its liquidation sales until the end of May, however they are not accepting returns, coupons, or rewards, the company stated.
If you miss your chance to use your gift card before March 11, you can choose to file a claim with the bankruptcy estate for the value of the card, but the Division of Consumer Affairs noted that it is difficult to know whether or how much they might recover from such a claim.
