LONDON – According to airport officials, a flight bound for Newark was diverted to London Stansted Airport following a bomb threat.
No one was reported injured in the incident which is still under investigation.
The Air India Boeing left Mumbai, India, and was en route to New Jersey. However, a bomb threat required it to be rerouted to England instead. There, the flight was met by police at an isolated runway away from normal operations. An email had been sent to the Mumbai airport threatening a bomb, according to the BBC. Jet fighters accompanied the flight into London, but the issue wound up being deemed a hoax.
