TINTON FALLS – A Keyport man and his girlfriend were charged after attempting to bribe a victim of a violent sexual assault, trying to prevent her from cooperating in his prosecution.
Kareem Lee, 32, and Erin Logan, 31, both of Keyport, are each charged with second-degree Conspiracy and second-degree Bribery of a Witness.
Lee remains additionally charged with first-degree Armed Robbery, first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, and two related second-degree weapons offenses after threatening a woman during an attempted theft, officials said.
Around 2:30 p.m. on July 21, Tinton Falls Police Department officers responded to a call at a motel on Route 33 for a report of a sexual assault. According to police, the victim said she had been sexually assaulted at gunpoint by a man who had entered the room.
Through investigation, authorities identified Lee as the suspect.
Authorities later discovered that in October and November 2022, Lee, Logan, and a third party offered the victim cash to in exchange for a signed and notarized document stating she did not wish to pursue the case against Lee.
As a result, Logan was arrested in December 2022.
