COLTS NECK – Police held a press conference to announce that four people were found dead during a house fire on Willow Brook Road, but warned people not to spread false information and to let the investigation continue.

Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni confirmed that the four victims were two adults and two children from the same family. Initial reports stated that there were five victims, and that one of them who had been found outside the home had been shot. The prosecutor said that the causes of death are still under investigation. Some of that investigation had been slowed by the fact that it was an unsafe location. One firefighter was injured but is expected to make a full recovery.

The fire is suspected to be arson, but people in town are not at risk at this time, he said.

Police officials during the press conference said that there was no history of domestic violence or police calls to the home that they knew of.

There was another fire reported nearby. This one had no injuries. Local news agencies reported that the two homes were owned by family members.

“I would encourage media and public not to get carried away” and draw connections that might not be there yet, Gramiccioni said.
