One Dead, One Seriously Injured In Freehold Crash

FREEHOLD – One woman was fatally injured and another seriously injured as a result of the accident that shutdown Route 9 near Craig Rd. on Jan. 16, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

  Route 9 was shut down from Craig Road to Ryan Road and Symmes Drive from about 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. yesterday as officers conducted a crash investigation. The three-car collision occurred near the border between Freehold Township and Manalapan Township. 

  The three-car crash fatally injured the driver of one of the vehicles and seriously injured a passenger in that same vehicle. The passenger was transported to a local hospital for treatment where he/she remains in critical condition, said authorities.

  The other two drivers and one other passenger sustained minor injuries in the crash.

  The victims of the accident have not yet been identified.
