FREEHOLD – A motorcyclist collides with a Freehold Township police officer sending both to the hospital and shutting down a major intersection.
The crash happened at around 2:22 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Route 537 and Kozloski Road in the township.
Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Spokesman Chris Swendeman said the officer was on duty at the time of the accident.
Swendeman added “the intersection where the crash occurred was closed for several hours during a preliminary investigation.”
Both the officer and the operator of the motorcycle were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Their conditions are unknown at this point.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team and the Freehold Township Police Department.
