TINTON FALLS – A Keyport man has been charged with robbery and aggravated sexual assault after threatening a woman during an attempted theft Thursday afternoon, officials said.
Kareem Lee, 31, was charged with first-degree Robbery, as well as first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault with an Armed Weapon.
Around 2:30 p.m., Tinton Falls Police Department officers responded to a call at a local motel for a report of a sexual assault. According to police, the victim said she had been sexually assaulted at gunpoint by a man who had entered the room.
Through investigation, authorities identified Lee as the suspect.
Lee is being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institute (MCCI) pending a detention hearing on July 27.
