WALL – An Eatontown man was arrested and charged following a dispute that led to a stabbing at a local motel Sunday, police said.

Around 3:30 p.m., police responded to the Economy Inn Motel located at 2035 State Highway 35 regarding a man stabbed multiple times. Officers found a 50-year-old man from Hampton, Virginia, with multiple stab wounds to his mid-section and his back. He was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center by the Wall Township Emergency Medical Services.

According to police, the suspect had fled the scene immediately following the stabbing.

The suspect, who was later identified as 37-year-old Geraldo Voglino of Eatontown, had engaged in a dispute with the victim over a cell phone. This led to Voglino stabbing the victim numerous times with a knife, police said.

Voglino was arrested at a home on Barker Avenue, Shrewsbury Township, without incident at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Voglino was charged with 1st-degree attempted murder, 2nd-degree aggravated assault, 2nd-degree burglary with a weapon, and 3rd-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (knife). He was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold to await court proceedings, which will be held in the Monmouth County Superior Court.
