Local Man Sentenced In Fatal Crash

WALL – A Wall Township man has been sentenced to four and a half years in state prison as a result of a crash that killed an 82-year-old man in 2021, officials said.

Nolan T. Dickson, 28, must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence before the possibility of parole under the provisions of New Jersey’s No Early Release Act, in accordance with the terms set down during at a hearing.

At about 10:09 a.m. on June 27, 2021, the Wall Township Police Department responded to a head-on crash involving three vehicles in the area of State Highway 35 and Lakewood Road.

Paul Yuro, 82, of Brick, was inside his car and had to be extricated. He was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he later died as a result of his injuries.

Police determined that Dickson was driving a 2017 BMW 430i southbound on State Highway 35 when he entered the northbound lane and hit a 2013 Toyota Camry being driven by Yuro.

Dickson was on his way home from a casino in Atlantic City, where he had ingested oxycodone, alprazolam, codeine, and marijuana, when he caused the collision, police said.

On May 8, after authorities consulted with the victim’s family, Dickson pleaded guilty to a second-degree charge of Vehicular Homicide, to be treated as a third-degree offense for the purposes of sentencing.
