FREEHOLD – Give blood, get a $10 gas card or Amazon gift card! The Monmouth County Freeholders are hosting their annual summer blood drive next Wednesday, July 26 and are offering the incentives to donors courtesy of the Central Jersey Blood Center.
The blood drive will take place at the County Agricultural Building from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to help quell the mid-summer blood shortage. Healthy people aged 17 or older who weight at least 120 pounds are encouraged to come out and donate. Donors are advised to eat before donating and encouraged to make an appointment by calling 732-842-5750, ext. 243 and asking for Karen McGowan.
“Summer is an unusually slow time for blood donations,” said Freeholder Deputy Director John P. Curley, liaison to the Monmouth County Health Department in a press release. “The County is proud to partner with the Central Jersey Blood Center help keep blood supplies at a safe level. I encourage anyone who can give blood to consider doing so as part of our July 26 blood drive.”
Healthy people are able to give blood every eight weeks if they want to.
