MONMOUTH COUNTY – The former Kenilworth school superintendent accused of defecating on a high school football field recently pleaded guilty in court.

Thomas Tramaglini, 42, was arrested after it came to light that he had been defecating at the track and football field at Holmdel High School. Tramaglini pleaded guilty in Holmdel Municipal Court to defecating under the school’s bleachers and is required to pay a $500 fine and court costs. Previous charges of lewdness and littering were dropped.

Tramaglini was found out in May, after suspicions led the high school’s resource officer to surveil the area to see who was committing the act, according to police. He was caught in the act while on a run near the track and field.

According to his attorney, Tramaglini suffers from a medical condition which affects his bowel movements when he runs, also known as “runner’s diarrhea.” The condition is said to be caused by acute blood flow during exercise, Tramaglini’s attorney stated.

Initial reports of the crime claimed that Tramaglini was defecating in the public area on a regular basis, however his attorney contested this.

“There’s no evidence he was ever a serial offender,” Tramaglini’s attorney was quoted in report by NJ.com.

Tramaglini was originally issued paid leave from the Kenilworth district; however, he submitted his resignation in July. He plans to sue the Holmdel Police Department for releasing the mugshot taken of him after his arrest.
