MANCHESTER – A Manchester woman is in critical condition after a three car collision that occurred at the intersection of Ridgeway Road and Route 70 in Manchester.
On May 10, at approximately 8:12 a.m., police responded to the scene for a three-car crash involving a 2010 Toyota Corolla, a 2017 Ford Transit Van and a 2018 Ford EcoSport.
An investigation found that 72-year-old Catherine Golomb of Manchester was traveling eastbound on Route 70 in the Toyota Corolla, making a left-hand turn onto Ridgeway Road northbound, when she was struck by the Ford Transit.
The Ford, driven by 29-year-old Fabio Oliveira of Manasquan, collided with the Toyota’s passenger side. Oliviera was accompanied by two passengers at the time of the crash: 39-year-old Juan Cirano of Freehold and 26-year-old Zachary Childs of Forked River.
After the initial collision, the Toyota then struck the Ford EcoSport, driven by 62-year-old Robin Miller of Bayville, while it was stopped in the southbound lane of Ridgeway Road at the traffic signal.
Following the collision, Golomb complained of chest pains and was transported by medivac helicopter to Capital Health Regional Medical Center. Golomb remains in critical but stable condition.
Oliviera was transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune to be treated for of upper torso and knee pain. The other passengers in the van refused medical attention at the scene as did the operator of the EcoSport.
Firefighters from the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, EMTs from Quality Medical Transport, and Paramedics from MONOC also responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
