MANCHESTER – A driver is in critical condition after a serious collision which involved him being extricated and airlifted, police said.
On August 17, the Manchester Township Police Department responded to State Highway 37 and Bone Hill Road regarding a crash at the intersection.
Police discovered a Saturn Vue with extensive front-end damage and an Acura RDX with extensive driver side damage. The driver of the Acura, 51-year-old Kunie Brown of Manchester, was trapped due to the damage and police had to extricate him from the car. Brown suffered serious injuries and was airlifted via medevac helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment. He is currently listed in critical and unstable condition.
The driver of the Saturn, a 17-year-old male from Lakehurst, was brought to Community Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger of the Saturn, 21-year-old Brandon Carman of Lakehurst, was brought to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune via ambulance for treatment and is currently listed in stable condition.
According to police, the driver of the Saturn was traveling eastbound on State Highway 37 when it collided with Brown’s car, which was turning left at the intersection from Bone Hill Road onto State Highway 37 westbound.
At this time, the crash is still under investigation but officials believe that a disregarded traffic signal seems to be the primary contributing factor.
