MANCHESTER – Authorities have reported no injuries resulted from a crash involving a school bus on Route 37 Friday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Route 37 and Colonial Drive. According to police, a juvenile was traveling west on Colonial Drive in the left hand turn lane in a 2007 Hyundai Elantra. The school bus was also traveling west on Colonial Drive but in the right lane and was attempting to make a left turn onto Route 37.

Police said both vehicles entered the intersection and the Hyundai attempted to go straight in the left hand turn lane, while the bus was making a left turn. As a result, the vehicles collided.

The driver of the school bus, 50-year-old Lamont Lett of Manchester, along with the 37 students inside, were all wearing their seatbelts.

One child on the school bus reported a complaint of head pain, but ultimately refused further medical attention, police said.

The driver and passenger of the Hyundai, both juveniles, were also wearing their seatbelt and sustained no injuries from the crash.

Assisting at the scene were Emergency Medical Technicians from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services and members of the Manchester Board of Education.

Investigation is ongoing, however police determined that improper lane change by the Hyundai driver was the causing factor.

This crash is being investigated by Ptl. Sage Sysol of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
