LAKEHURST – A South Amboy man was charged with DWI and assault by auto Jan. 5
Christopher J. Rand, 28, was issued six other motor vehicle summonses: driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to exhibit insurance, unregistered vehicle and failure to inspect. Lakehurst Police processed and released Rand, who has mandatory court dates in Ocean County and Lakehurst Municipal courts.
At 6 a.m. Jan. 5, officer Robert Schroeck responded to the scene of an accident at the Lakehurst Circle. The 2009 Volkswagen driven by Rand was disabled on the grass median in the circle. Schroeck determined that Rand had been driving the wrong way on Route 37 and struck another vehicle, and caused injuries to that other driver.
Lakehurst Police did not release details on the victim.
Manchester Police Department, Lakehurst Fire Department and the Lakehurst First Aid Squad assisted.
