MANCHESTER – A head-on collision between a USPS truck and pick-up truck blocked Route 70 for several hours Tuesday night.
Around 4:22 p.m., Manchester Township Police responded to the accident scene at mile marker 42 on Route 70.
Police found the postal truck with extensive front-end damage blocking both lanes of Route 70. A bronze 2014 Ford F150, which sustained front-end and driver’s side damage, was in the woods. The postal truck was apparently going to east on Route 70 when it veered into the westbound lane and collided with the F150.
Robert B. Fash, 55, of Barnegat, driving the USPS truck, was taken via Medivac to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune with non-life-threatening injuries.
Brian C. Fahey, 41, of Pemberton, the driver of the Ford F150, was taken to Community Medical Center for his non-life-threatening injuries.
The Lakehurst Borough Police Department, Lakehurst and Whiting Volunteer Fire Departments, State of New Jersey Department of Transportation Diversion Team, New Jersey State Police, Quality Medical Transport, and MONOC Paramedics assisted at the scene.
This crash is being investigated by Patrolman Jesse Hoydis and Patrolman Michael O’Hara of the department’s Traffic Safety section.
