
MANCHESTER – Several people were injured after a three-car crash in Manchester Township Tuesday evening, police said.
The crash occurred around 9:46 p.m. at the intersection of Commonwealth Boulevard and Bismarck Street. At that time, a white 2017 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling northbound on Bismarck Street approaching the intersection, while a blue 2021 Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Commonwealth Boulevard approaching the intersection as well. Additionally, a gray 2005 Honda Civic was on Bismarck Street stopped at the stop sign, police said.
According to authorities, the Chevrolet went through the intersection, disregarding the stop sign, causing the front end of the Honda Accord to impact with the passenger side of the Chevrolet. The Chevrolet became airborne and impacted the Honda Civic.
The Honda Accord came to a final rest in the northwest corner of the intersection while the Chevrolet rolled onto its roof, stopping in the middle of the roadway.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a juvenile from Toms River, suffered minor injuries. A 5-month-old baby was in the backseat of the car and sustained no injuries. They were both transported by ambulance to Jersey Shore Medical Center, police said.
The driver of the Honda Accord, 28-year-old Adan Espinal of Manchester, was brought to Community Medical Center for minor injuries. The driver of the Honda Civic, 36-year-old Jacob Lob of Manchester, sustained no injuries from the crash.
The roadway was closed during the investigation and cleanup, police said.
Assisting at the scene were EMTs from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, Hatzolah, firefighters from Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department, Manchester Volunteer Fire Department and Robert Wood Johnson Paramedics.
The investigation into this crash is still ongoing, however, police stated the crash was caused due to disregarding a stop sign.
