MANCHESTER – A concern citizen has helped police identify a suspect in connection to several car burglaries that occurred on Tuesday, police said.

On September 3, a series of vehicle burglaries took place in the Pine Lake Park section of Manchester Township – about dozen incidents reported.

After gathering evidence and video surveillance footage of the suspect, authorities shared the footage with the public on social media. The following morning, a resident in Pine Lake Park alerted police after noticing a suspicious man matching the suspect’s description. Officers identified the person as 30-year-old Cody Diaz of Toms River.

Diaz was found in possession of a stolen bicycle and other items taken from the previous day’s burglaries, leading to his arrest. Collected evidence further linked Diaz to several of the reported vehicle burglaries, police said.

“We encourage the community to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. Additionally, please ensure that your vehicles are securely locked to help prevent further incidents,” Manchester Police said.

Anyone having any information regarding additional vehicle burglaries is asked to contact the Manchester Township Police, Detective Richard Conklin at 732-657-2009 ext. 4211.
