LAKEHURST – A brush fire burned through two acres of trees and woods on the afternoon of February 21.
The Lakehurst Volunteer Fire Department Station 62 was dispatched to 2 Proving Ground Road at the Lakehurst Emergency Services HQ. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service later arrived on scene to help extinguish the fire.
Responding units also included the Lakehurst Joint Base station 67, Lakehurst Police Department and the Manchester EMS. At this time, no injuries were reported and the cause of the brush fire is unknown.
Recently, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service have been conducting a large number of prescribed burns in the area. Over the weekend, prescribed burning operations were performed in the following townships: Barnegat Township, Berkeley Township, Jackson Township, Lacey Township, Plumsted Township, Stafford Township and Toms River Township.
