JACKSON – A woman was arrested and charged with attempted murder after stabbing another woman in the chest at a residence on Brookfield Drive on Feb. 13, police said.
Brianna Hill-Mayweather, 33, was charged with criminal attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
On Wednesday, Feb. 13, Jackson officers responded to a report of a stabbing at the Urgent Care facility in the Meridian Health Village on South Cooksbridge Road at approximately 11 a.m.
Once on the scene, officers discovered a 20-year old woman with a stab wound to the chest. According to police, the woman was stabbed with a knife during an altercation with another woman at a residence on Brookfield Drive.
The victim was transported to Jersey Shore Trauma Center for emergency surgery.
Officers and detectives responded to both the house on Brookfield Drive and the hospital to investigate the incident. Officers obtained identification on the stabbing suspect, Hill-Mayweather, but she had left the scene by the time they arrived.
A search of the residence recovered the weapon, police said.
Police took Hill-Mayweather into custody after she crashed a vehicle on Route 70 in Lakewood.
She has been processed and remains lodged in the Ocean County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
