Wildfire Closes South Stump Tavern Road In Jackson

  JACKSON – With dry conditions due to the lack of rain for weeks now and 80-degree weather in November, concerns of area wildfires have been on the minds of firefighters. Such a wildfire was reported in the township today.

   A township wildfire forced the evacuation of 15 buildings, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service who noted that South Stump Tavern Road remails closed. This fire has been reported as having impacted several acres of land.

  Authorities stated during a press conference hosted by the New Jersey Forest Fire Service held at Cassville Volunteer Fire Company that the fire triggered evacuations in that area of Jackson and was expected to be contained at approximately 300 acres.

  Officials posted to X that, “Forest Fire Service crews are conducting a backfiring operation, strategically burning fuel in the fire’s path to slow its advance and assist with containment efforts.”
