JACKSON – The Jackson Police Department is warning residents of a set of burglars that have stolen from multiple cars on Sunday.
The suspects were first reported to police after an incident occurred at the Quick Chek located on Leesville Road. Around 5:30 a.m., a Quick Chek employee reported that a blue Audi with no license plates fled without paying for gas. In addition, the employee told police that the Audi was occupied by four black males who were described to have all been wearing black sweatshirts, black ski masks and black gloves with white markings on them.
Officer Andrew Kalash was en route to the Quick Chek when he spotted the suspect vehicle on Freehold Road turning onto Kingfisher Court. As he turned onto Kingfisher Court, the suspect vehicle turned around and fled the area speeding before the officer could close any distance.
The car was then seen a short time later by another officer on Cassville Road traveling over 80 mph. However, the car crossed into Millstone before that officer could catch up.
At 9 a.m., Officer Lou Notare responded to a home on Imperial Place for a report of a car burglary that took place earlier in the morning.
According to the victim, his 2022 Mercedes Benz that was parked in the driveway had been entered and multiple items were stolen: about $7,000 in cash, a Fendi business backpack, Microsoft laptop, iPhone, Apple Air Pods and a debit card. About two hours earlier, the victim had been alerted by his bank that there had been an attempted withdrawal from his account.
The victim told police that the car was locked and there were no signs of forced entry. Security footage from the victim’s and other neighbor’s homes showed a blue car driving through the neighborhood. A man was seen going to the victim’s car before returning to the suspect vehicle, which then fled the area. At this time there were no other reported burglaries in this neighborhood, police said.
At 10 a.m., another vehicle theft was reported from a resident of Denton Lane. The victim woke in the morning to find his 2019 Genesis parked at the end of his driveway, which was not where it had been parked.
After reviewing the dash camera inside the car, which was found knocked off onto the seat, it was observed that his car was being operated by an unknown subject at around 4:30 a.m. A blue vehicle with no license plate was seen on the short video before the camera was disabled and his car abandoned, police said. In addition, nothing was reported stolen from the car and the key fob had been left inside the vehicle.
Anyone who may have additional information on these incidents are asked to contact Jackson Township police headquarters at 732-928-1111. Residents are reminded to remove valuables from their vehicles and secure them. It’s asked to report suspicious activity when it is observed so officers can respond to investigate.
