JACKSON – Police have located and charged the person responsible for the theft of several off road vehicles from a Jackson residence in August of 2018.

On Oct. 24, Jackson Police followed up information regarding the 2018 theft and was able to recover a motorcycle which had been reported stolen, charging the suspect who stole it.

In August 2018, a Miller Ave. resident reported the theft of an all-terrain vehicle and two dirt bikes from his Jackson home. It wasn’t until recently that the victim forwarded police video footage which showed one of the stolen motorcycles, valued at more than $4,000, being operated by a juvenile in Camden.

The victim was able to identify his bike by several customized and aftermarket modifications as well as by minor but distinctive damage.

After seeing the video, police were then able to identify the suspect and pinpoint his location in Camden.

With a search warrant, Jackson and Camden County detectives conducted a search of the suspect’s residence on Garfield Ave. in Camden. The search recovered the stolen motorcycle with what was determined to be a fictitious VIN number on it.

Police charged 29-year old Dilson Vasquez of Camden with third degree receiving stolen property and third degree tampering with a VIN. He was issued a summons pending a court appearance.

During the search, police also recovered four jet skis, a jet ski trailer, two dirt bikes and a dirt bike frame which were determined to have been stolen from other jurisdictions. Several of these items were discovered to have fictitious VIN numbers on them also. Camden County Police seized the items and continue to investigate the matter.
