JACKSON – Police are investigating the theft of a 2020 BMW M8 valued at $130,000.
The theft took place at 2 a.m. on January 26 at a Mimi Court residence. Security footage showed a vehicle pull up in front of the residence. Someone got out and went into the victim’s vehicle, which appeared to be unlocked. A key fob is believed to have been left inside the car.
“The vehicle then started and backed out of the driveway and left the area. This incident took approximately 30 seconds and due to the distance and darkness, no details were observed which could assist to identify the suspects or suspect vehicle,” police said.
A tracking app inside the vehicle placed it in Newark two hours later, and that department is assisting in the investigation.
Police reminded residents to remove valuables from their parked vehicles and lock them, making sure not to leave the key fob in the car. Anyone observing suspicious activity in their neighborhood is asked to contact police headquarters at 732-928-1111 so it can be investigated.
