JACKSON – A local man was found guilty of Aggravated Manslaughter in the stabbing death of his victim.
J’Shawn Cutler, 28, of Jackson, faces up to 30 years New Jersey State Prison – subject to the terms of the No Early Release Act, which means he must serve at least 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole. The jury also found him guilty of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. His sentencing is scheduled for April 11.
Isaiah Renouf, 23, of Jackson, was stabbed on June 19, 2020. A 911 call brought police and first responders, who conducted life-saving measures. The victim lived long enough for officials to get him to the closest hospital, but succumbed to his wounds. The jury concluded that Cutler “recklessly caused the death of Mr. Renouf under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to human life,” police said.
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer applauded the efforts of Chief Trial Attorney Kristin Pressman and Senior Assistant Prosecutor Alyssa Mandara who “ably and skillfully” tried the case on behalf of the State.
