JACKSON – A local chiropractor with an office in the township has been charged with Criminal Sexual Contact after allegedly touching a woman patient inappropriately during a treatment.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said the woman who made the claim went to see 68-year-old James Royle of New Egypt at his Royle Sports Chiropractic office in Jackson on February 14th.

Authorities say Royle touched her in an inappropriate way during a chiropractic adjustment, unrelated to the treatment.

On February 27, Royle was charged with Criminal Sexual Contact. On that same date, Royle surrendered himself to Jackson Township Police Headquarters, where he was charged on a summons pending future appearances in Ocean County Superior Court.

“If anyone has had a similar experience with Royle, I urge you to contact Detective Cassidy Goebel of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732- 929-2027, extension 3124, or Detective Brian Baranyay of the Jackson Township Police Department at 732- 833-3010,” Prosecutor Billhimer stated.

Prosecutor Billhimer commends the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and Jackson Township Police Department for their collaborative efforts in connection with this investigation.
