PLUMSTED – You didn’t have to look far to see smiling faces and hear children laughing and having fun during this year’s New Egypt Day held on Saturday, May 18.
New Egypt Day took place on Main Street and North Main Street and featured a variety of activities for children and adults. The free event drew several hundred people throughout the day.
The day’s activities included pony rides, inflatable attractions, a petting zoo, face painting and a tractor-pulled covered wagon.
Musical entertainment was enjoyed by both young and old and food vendors sold everything from sausage sandwiches to kettle corn to water ice throughout the day.
The community is gearing up for another traditional event in a few weeks. The township’s annual Memorial Day Parade will return to Main Street on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.
The parade will start lining up at noon and will begin at 1 p.m. on North Main Street at Bright Road and continues along Main Street and Jacobstown Road to Meadowbrook Lane.
Various organizations, bands and emergency units will be represented during this patriotic event which honors veterans and those currently serving America in the armed forces.
A Memorial Day service will take place following the parade at the New Egypt American Legion Post 455 McKaig-Test-Mullen located at 2 Meadowbrook Lane.
