More Overnight Car Thefts Occur In Jackson

  JACKSON – The Jackson Police Department is again reminding residents to lock their cars and not to leave the keys inside as more thefts take place in the town.

  On July 5 at 4:29 a.m., P.O. Nicholas Kokich responded to a home on Mill Pond Road about a car theft. The resident said that his 2018 Dodge Durango was stolen from his driveway after receiving a Ring alert on his phone and saw two unidentified males enter the car. Police said that the key fob had been left in the vehicle overnight.

  The car was later found by the Newark Police Department after it was impounded from being involved in a car crash in that city.

  On this same day at 5:02 a.m., P.O. Stephen Purtell responded to a home on Mill Pond Road after the Freehold Township Police Department contacted headquarters saying they had recovered a 2013 Maserati involved in a car crash and abandoned on the roadway. The owner said that the car parked in the driver and left unlocked with the keys inside. Two other cars owned by the victim were also broken into, with $2,000 in cash stolen.

  In addition, another car theft occurred on this date at 7:27 a.m. P.O. James Hendrick responded to a home on Plasner Court, with the resident stating that that a 2018 Audi A5 was stolen from the driveway. It was reported that the key fob had been left inside the vehicle.

  Residents who observe any suspicious activity are asked to call police headquarters at 732-928-1111 so officers can be dispatched to investigate.
