JACKSON – A Christmas Day call led to the arrest of a man who assaulted one of the officers.
Jackson Township Police officers John Pejoski, Derek Gorski and Brad Reider responded to a North Hope Chapel Road home at 9:51 a.m. Dec. 25 after receiving a 911 call hang up.
The officers encountered a 31-year-old man who they say was “causing a disturbance.” The man became aggressive and uncooperative, police said, and when they attempted to detain him, became combative and resisted. The officers and man struggled, and all fell to the ground.
Officer Matt Roth arrived on the scene to assist.
Officers were eventually able to place the man in handcuffs. He was charged with obstruction, resisting arrest and aggravated assault on a police officer.
Gorski suffered an injury during the struggle that required medical attention.
The unidentified man was later taken to an area hospital for evaluation. No other information was available on his condition.
