FREEHOLD – A Jackson Township woman died as the result of a head-on collision Friday morning at Siloam and Old Turkey Swamp roads.
Debra Vattelana, 55, lost control of her car and hit an oncoming vehicle on Siloam Road around 8:54 a.m. She was thrown through her passenger-side window, suffering life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
She was pronounced dead less than an hour later at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold.
The driver of the other vehicle, Rada Shakov, 40, of Toms River, was treated at CentraState for her injuries and later released.
