PUTNAM COUNTY, TN – A woman who moved to Tennessee to be with her parents was one of the many who died in devastating tornadoes.

Jamie Smith, 36, was a graduate of Jackson Memorial High School. According to NJ.com, she moved to Tennessee 10 years ago after her parents retired there. Her brother, Joseph Loff of Freehold said that her 8-year-old son, Logan, was staying with his grandfather and they both survived unscathed.

“She was a very kind person and everyone she encountered loved her,” he told NJ Advance Media. She owned an office cleaning company.

According to The Weather Channel, tornadoes in the area on March 3 killed at least 25 people, injured dozens more, and some people were missing. At least five of the deaths were children. At least one tornado was classified as an EF4, which carries with it maximum speeds of 175 mph. Damage to the area are expected to reach $93 million.
