JACKSON – A motorcyclist evading police is dead, and the man whose car he struck is in critical condition at a local hospital.

On July 5 at 10:20 p.m., Anthony Griffin, 22, of Jackson, was driving his red 2004 Yamaha 999 motorcycle east on Brewers Bridge Road toward South New Prospect Road, where he failed to stop for a red light and turned onto the road. A Jackson police patrol turned on his overhead lights and followed Griffin, at which he point accelerated. As Griffin approached Oak Drive, his motorcycle struck the driver-side door of a gray 2008 Hyundai Elantra, driven by 24-year-old Eric Larson of Jackson. Larson was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto South New Prospect Road.

Griffin was declared dead at the scene. It was found he was driving an unregistered motorcycle with fake plates.

Larson was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he is listed in critical condition.

The Jackson Township Police Department and Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit investigated.
