JACKSON – An intoxicated Jackson man was charged with aggravated assault against a township police officer Saturday night.
Police responded to a Topaz Drive home after receiving a call about an intoxicated male outside a party. The 27-year-old man greeted police with threats and profanity. Police spoke to family members, who agreed he should be taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The man struggled as police attempted to cuff him. While police attempted to put him into a police vehicle, the man thrashed his head back while attempting to strike an officer. An officer attempted to restrain the man, and the man bit the officer’s hand.
An ambulance was called to the scene to take the man to the hospital.
