JACKSON – An early morning crash Wednesday resulted in one car bursting into flames.
At 7:07 a.m., a 2012 Ford, driven by an 85-year-old Jackson man, was heading north on Route 571 and failed to yield, and attempted to turn westbound onto 537 when he collided with a 2014 Chevy, driven by a 62-year-old Jamesburg woman.
The man’s vehicle’s engine compartment erupted into flames.
Jackson Township Police Department Capt. Steve Laskiewicz said both drivers were able to get out of their cars on their own. Both drivers refused medical attention.
The man was issued a summons for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection.
Officer Brad Reider of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit is investigating.
