HOWELL – A 911 call leads Monmouth investigators to a dead body in the parking lot of a busy shopping center on Good Friday.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office has identified the man as 61-year-old Weldon Spaulding, Jr. of Tinton Falls. His body was discovered lying on the ground next to a car in the Home Depot Plaza parking lot at the corner of Route 9 South and West Farms Road.
The call came in at around 1:31 p.m. Howell police initially responded before county units arrived.
An autopsy is pending to fund the exact cause of death.
According to a post on the official Howell Township Police Department Facebook page, they believe the death is suspicious. The text goes on to say “we do not believe there is a threat to others. If you have any information you may send it to us via Facebook messenger.”
