OCEAN COUNTY – Last summer, there was lots of hullabaloo on the Seaside Heights boardwalk when a television camera crew showed up. No, it wasn’t for Snooki and the Situation. It wasn’t for more Stronger Than The Storm TV spots with Governor Christie. It was actually The Travel Channel for the show Delicious Destinations.
The program focuses on where you can get the best and most interesting foods in various locations.
Marcua’s Tomato Pies has been a staple of the shore going on 68 years. The producers reached out to the owners and asked if they’d be interested in being featured.
After a few hours of filming, the crew left but no one seemed to know the airdate.
The completed show premieres on Tuesday, January 9th at 9:30 p.m. eastern. Host Andrew Zimmern, best known for his show Bizarre Foods, was there for the taping back in August. The show will likely be re-broadcast throughout the month on the network.
Instead of Zimmern eating bugs covered in chocolate syrup or turtle testicles (yes he actually ate those), he’ll be chowing down on pizza, saltwater taffy, subs and boardwalk treats that we all know and love.
So be sure to set your DVR’s and keep those warm summer thoughts on your mind as you watch the show.
