LAKEWOOD – Police are investigating a stabbing that took place at the township municipal building Feb. 7.
Panic alarms went off in the municipal building around 10:55 a.m. Officers rushed to the second floor, where a man was sitting in a hallway chair. As police attempted to question him, he stood up and struck with a closed first at least one officer. He resisted police but was eventually taken into custody. The man had a folding knife on him.
Police learned the man had stabbed someone with that knife. That person was taken a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. The injuries are not believed to be life threatening, Capt. Gregory Staffordsmith said.
Police believe this was a random attack and the suspect acted alone. However, the investigation is ongoing.
