BRICK – A three alarm fire destroyed a home this afternoon at 31 Bay Way and a firefighter sustained a minor injury.
The fire began around 3:30 p.m. and Emergency Responders quickly responded to a call of a house fire at the Bay Harbor section of Brick.
They observed heavy smoke and fire upon their arrival. They had to fight the fire in strong wind conditions which helped the fire to spread rapidly.
The resident of the house who was inside at the time was uninjured. The home was left completely uninhabitable.
The wind driven fire caused extensive damage to the upper portion of the house next door at 29 Bay Way. Spot fires on at least one area property were observed and extinguished. One firefighter suffered a minor burn that was treated at the scene by EMS.
The fire quickly reached a third alarm bringing Brick Township fire companies, Pioneer Hose, Breton Woods, Laurelton, and Herbertsville.
Other fire units also responded including, the Point Pleasant Boro, Point Pleasant Beach, Silverton and East Dover fire companies.
Other responders included Township Police and the Brick Police EMS. Jackson and Lakewood covered the township’s fire houses while Brick Township’s fire and mutual aid companies worked to extinguish the fire.
Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Officer are continuing to investigate the fire with the assistance of the Brick Police Detective Bureau and the Brick Fire Safety Bureau.
