BRICK – A township man working as a special police officer has been sentenced to jail for uploading images of child pornography to the internet, officials said.

John Kisch, 59, of Brick, was sentenced to 270 days in the Ocean County Jail as a condition of probation relative to his previously entered guilty plea to Possession of Child Pornography. The judge also ordered that Kisch be subject to Parole Supervision for Life.

Kisch pled guilty to the charge on September 24, 2024.

Police were tipped off by a referral from the New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. They, in turn, received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an IP address connected to a Brick home was the source, ultimately identifying Kisch.

At the time, Kisch was employed as a part-time Class I Special Officer with the Brick Township Police Department.

Detectives searched the home and seized Kisch’s desktop computer, where police found more than 100 images of child pornography, officials said.

Kisch was taken into custody without incident at the home and was transported to the Ocean County Jail, and subsequently released as a consequence of New Jersey Bail Reform.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer acknowledges the diligent efforts of Senior Assistant Prosecutor Shannon Chant-Berry who handled the case on behalf of the State, and commends the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Squad, United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations Newark, New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, for their cooperative efforts in connection with this investigation.
