BRICK – A Point Pleasant man was arrested and charged after blocking traffic during a road rage incident, police said.

On May 12, detectives were traveling in an unmarked car in the area of Route 88 and Post Road when they observed a car stopped in the roadway obstructing traffic and creating a danger to other drivers while he was in a verbal argument with another motorist.

When officers attempted to pull the suspect over, he got into his car and fled the scene. Police said he was located several hours later.

The suspect, Jonathan Weydig, 24, had six outstanding warrants and was charged with eluding officers, obstruction and hindering apprehension. Weydig was also issued 12 motor vehicle summonses.

The Brick Township Police Department reminded drivers not to engage in road rage incidents. Report aggressive drivers to the police department at 732-262-1100.

Charges are merely accusations until proven in a court of law.
