LAKEWOOD – After four measles cases were recently confirmed throughout Ocean County, Ocean Health Initiatives, Inc. (OHI) announced it will host a Vaccination Event at the Lakewood Health Center, 101 Second St., on Nov. 8.
The OHI Mobile Medical Unit will be offering free measles (MMR) vaccinations at the Lakewood location from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No appointment is required.
OHI will also offer the flu shot. OHI accepts and works with most insurance. For patients without insurance, the regular flu shot costs $20 and the high dose for senior’s costs $40. Through the Vaccines for Children (VFC), a federally funded program, children who do not have insurance, are self-pay patients, or who are recipients of Medicaid Plan A can receive a flu shot for free.
“OHI is taking a grass roots effort to help the local community and their patient population with these essential vaccines,” according to OHI.
If you have been exposed, or believe you have been exposed, to measles you should mention this when booking an appointment with your health care provider.
