OCEAN COUNTY – Another leader of the Ocean County Vocational Technical School has passed away.
William G. Henry, 88, of Brick, served as superintendent of OCVTS from 1966 until his retirement in 1989.
The Pennsylvania native settled in Brick 60 years ago.
Henry was a member of the American Association of School Administrators, American Vocational Association, NJ Association of School Administrators, past president of NJ Vocational and Technological Association, past governor of NJ School Masters Association, and the NJ Council of Education, according to his family.
He also volunteered with The ARC of Ocean County, Ocean County Foundation for Vocational Technical Foundation, Ocean County Vocational Advisory Committee, and the Midstreams Property Owners Association.
Henry received numerous awards for his work in education, including The Monmouth Ocean Development Council Silver Gull Award for community service, NJ Principals Supervisors Award for Leadership in Vocational Education, and NJ Council for Vocational Education for Achievement in Vocational Education.
His memorial will be held from 1-4 p.m. Feb. 23 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Route 88 in Brick.
