BRICK – After a multi-agency investigation, a Township man has been arrested and charged for several illegal drugs and firearms, police said.
On October 4, a special agent from the US Department of Homeland Security contacted Brick Township SCU Detectives regarding a package containing illegal substances.
According to the agent, U.S. Customs and Border patrol intercepted a package with psilocybin mushrooms inside that was being delivered to a home on Mantoloking Road.
As a result, authorities executed a search warrant on the home of 37-year-old Lucian Demarco on October 11.
During the search, detectives seized the following items: several forms of psilocybin mushrooms, psilocybin capsules, psilocybin grow kits, a quantity of marijuana packaged for resale, marijuana business promotional items included business cards, stickers, pens, magnets, and branded plastic bags, alprazolam pills, Harmine powder, and paperwork indicative of operating a drug maintenance and distribution facility.
In addition, detectives found several safes, a shotgun, a rifle, a handgun with an extended magazine and a large amount of money.
Subsequently, Demarco was charged with transporting/possession of property derived from criminal activity, possession of a large capacity ammunition magazine, maintaining/operating a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) facility, possession of CDS, manufacturing/distributing CDS, committing a drug offense while in possession of a firearm and paraphernalia and money laundering.
Demarco was lodged in Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
