BRICK – A Toms River resident remains hospitalized following a serious accident which closed a major stretch of road for several hours during the Monday evening rush.

Brick Township Police Sergeant Keith Donnelly confirmed that officers responded to Brick Boulevard shortly after 7 p.m. for a report of a crash involving a Honda Civic and a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R motorcycle.

The preliminary investigation revealed that 69-year-old Kathleen Kornas of Brick was turning left into the Bay Harbor Plaza when she struck the motorcycle driven by 36-year-old Christopher Cincis of Toms River.

Police said that Cincis had the right of way and the Traffic Safety Unit is now investigating to determine if speed was a factor.

Cincis was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune by Brick Police, EMS and Paramedics.

Traffic was detoured while the investigation and cleanup took place.

Kornas was not injured.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is urged to contact Patrolman David Thergesen at 732-451-2037.
