BRICK – A township fire company and dive team responded to a report a man in distress in the water on Friday evening.
Members of the Laurelton Fire Company and Brick District One Dive team were sent to Comstock Marina on Princeton Avenue around 10:57 p.m. Fire chiefs from District 1 and District 2 were at the scene first and located a man in the Metedeconk River at the end of the dock.
This man was found between the dock and a boat and was struggling to stay above water due to injuries and hypothermia.
The two chiefs laid across the dock and boat swim platform in order to grab hold of the man and stabilize the subject’s head above water while awaiting for additional responders.
A third chief arrived on location along with two Brick police officers. A rope was slung around the patient’s torso and the five responders were able to lift the person out of the water into the boat.
Members of additional fire units/dive team and township EMS arrived at the scene.
EMS took over treating the patient and provided him transport to a hospital. Fire and Dive units confirmed the subject was the only one in the water and secured the scene.
