BRICK – A Point Pleasant man died after his motorcycle collided with a Brick resident’s vehicle around 2:45 p.m. on March 14.
Members of the Brick Township Police Department responded to the intersection of Burnt Tavern Road and Spiral Drive following a report of a crash involving a motor vehicle and a motorcycle.
A preliminary investigation indicates that Robin Federbush, 49, Brick, who was driving a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, turned left from Spiral Drive to travel north on Burnt Tavern Road.
Christos Michael, 59, operating a 2003 Bourget Custom motorcycle was traveling south on Burnt Tavern Road. He had the right of way but as Federbush attempted to make a left turn onto Burnt Tavern Road, Michael collided with the left front side of the car in the intersection.
Michael was thrown from the motorcycle as a result of the impact and suffered lower body and internal injuries. He died from his injuries at the scene.
Township Patrol Units and emergency medical services along with Robert Wood Johnson paramedics responded to the accident scene. Members of the Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit also responded to the scene to investigate the crash.
Vehicles traveling on Burnt Tavern Road northbound and southbound were detoured around the crash scene for approximately five hours as the investigation was conducted.
That investigation is continuing and involves the Brick Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
