HALIFAX COUNTY – Police recently released the identities of two former New Jersey residents who died at the scene of a crash in Virginia on November 15.
Corey Wetmore, 28, formerly of Brick, and Brittany Forsythe, 26, formerly of Browns Mills, had just recently moved to Virginia, according to their obituaries.
The Virginia State Police said Wetmore was driving a 2006 GMC Envoy when it ran off the right shoulder. He overcorrected, and the vehicle went off the left shoulder, flipping over and striking trees. Both victims died at the scene. Neither were wearing seat belts.
“To his friends in New Jersey and beyond: this is a tough and unexpected loss to us all. Your kind messages and thoughts during this time are extremely appreciated,” Wetmore’s obituary stated. “Our family is already feeling the love and support from those who knew Corey best, and we are all-the-more grateful to any donations that can be pledged in his name and lasting memory.”
Forsythe’s obituary noted how close she was with her sisters and spending time with her nephew and nieces in Virginia. She enjoyed and took great pride in working with individuals through the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities. “She was such a sweet, tender-hearted woman, and will be missed by many,” the obituary read.
They had four pets: Loki, Shy, Binx, and Bear.
