BRICK – Many Target shoppers had to steer clear of the Brick location on Friday when the store announced it was temporarily closed down.
Brick Township Police had alerted residents Friday night that the store on Route 70 was closed “for the near future” due to a “utility condition.” However, this location opened its doors the next day to shoppers with no reported problems.
Target spokesperson Brian Harper-Tibaldo told Jersey Shore Online that a broken sprinkler head caused the store’s fire alarm to go off Friday evening. As a result, the store was evacuated and remained closed for the rest of the evening in order to investigate a possible fire.
After checking the store, the broken sprinkler head was discovered and the floors were mopped up in time for the Target to reopen on time Saturday.
