BRICK – Brick Police arrested a man in connection with a vehicle burglary in the area of 5th avenue on August 18.
When a resident reported seeing an individual in their car, police responded to the scene. Ptl. Bennett witnessed the suspect in dark clothing walking on Maple Avenue towards 1st Avenue. When Ptl. Riccio heard a person climbing a fence near a residence on 1st Avenue, he investigated the area and discovered the suspect.
The suspect began to flee but was caught in the rear yard of a neighbor’s house, where he physically resisted arrest.
Police identified the man as Marquise Harris. Harris was transported to Brick Hospital for an evaluation and then to Brick Township Police Headquarters.
Harris has been charged with 3rd degree aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, 4th degree obstructing the administration of law, 3rd degree resisting arrest by force, 3rd degree burglary and theft which is a disorderly persons offense.
Police continue to urge residents to report all vehicle burglaries and thefts. Anybody with information regarding criminal activity can contact the police department and remain anonymous.
