Ocean County Man Charged For Multiple Hit-And-Runs On Parkway

  BERKELEY – A Berkeley Township man has been charged for causing several hit-and run crashes while driving under the influence, state police said.

  Jonathan Ferro, 21, of Bayville was charged with three counts of assault by auto, driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, as well as numerous motor vehicle violations.

  The incidents occurred Wednesday around 2:18 p.m. near milepost 101.3 in the northbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway.

  According to State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, Ferro was driving a Dodge pickup truck during these crashed. His vehicle then became disabled and he fled the scene on foot.

  Ferro then physically assaulted a construction worker before the Neptune Police Department apprehended him in the area of McNamara Way in Tinton Falls, Lebron said.

  Ferro was transferred to the custody of State Police before he was processed and released pending a future court date. The incidents remain under investigation, Lebron said.
